Michael Alan Muhlhammer

Mike Muhlhammer, son of Christine Beth Eyler Muhlhammer and Ron Muhlhammer went to be with Jesus on July 6, 2018. Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Chris Muhlhammer who with deep devotion and love assisted Mike to have the quality of life he enjoyed since his brain tumor. Mike was greatly loved and will be missed by his family, including his sister Katie Muhlhammer, father Ron Muhlhammer, and grandmother Jane Eyler. Mike graduated high school a year early from Neuse Christian School in Raleigh, North Carolina and completed one year of college at the Wisconsin Wilderness Campus of Philadelphia College of the Bible. Mike loved the outdoors and was pursuing a career in wildlife management when a brain tumor was found that changed the direction of his life. Since that time, Mike enjoyed being with family and friends including starting a Bible study for other young adults with disabilities with his best friend Megan. For over the last 13 years Mike worked at the A.E. Finley YMCA in Raleigh as a greeter. Mike absolutely loved his job, greeting everyone each morning with a sticker and a thumbs up. Other important things to Mike were his relationship with God and his pets and helping others. Over the years, Mike was blessed to have many great individuals, doctors, case managers, and care providers who helped support him and his family. Recently Mike moved to a group home where he was starting to make new friends and staff was getting to know and support him. Mike was dearly loved and will be missed greatly. Mike will forever be known for his easy smile, optimism, and perseverance to overcome many obstacles. He was and is an inspiration to many. A celebration of Mike's life will be held at the Renaissance Funeral Home Chapel in Raleigh on Thursday, July 12th. Viewing and visitation at 5:30 with service at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of the following organizations meaningful to Mike: the A.E.
