Catherine Parrott Taylor

Catherine Parrott Taylor of Raleigh died on March 16, 2013 following a courageous battle with ALS. The only child of the late Benjamin Hubert Parrott and Clara Pickles Parrott, Catherine was born in Kinston, NC. She was educated in the Kinston City Schools and graduated with honors from Grainger High School. She furthered her education at Greensboro College and East Carolina University. Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed working with young children and was an aide at Hudson Memorial, St. Andrews Preschool and Lynn Road Elementary School. For over 20 years, Catherine was in direct sales with The Longaberger Company selling handcrafted baskets and pottery. She retired as a Regional Advisor in 2003. Prior to her diagnosis of ALS, Catherine divided her time between Raleigh and their home on the Bay River in Pamlico County, NC. She was active in the Vandemere United Methodist Church and enjoyed the peaceful lifestyle and beauty of the area with her family, friends, and neighbors. Her love of animals contributed to her passion for finding homes for dogs and cats in need. Catherine is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Edward (Eddie) L. Taylor, who was her high school sweetheart; a son, Gregory, and his wife, Wendy, of Wendell and a daughter Patricia and her husband, Kirk Wagner, of Raleigh, a granddaughter, Elli Wagner, and a step grandson, Ryan Byrd, of Mebane. The family would like to thank Hospice of Wake County for its compassionate care, and to Catherineâ€™s special care givers, Angela, Jessica, Karen and Lisa. The support and prayers of our friends is deeply appreciated. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 19th, at the Renaissance Funeral Home in Raleigh located at 7615 Six Forks Road. The Rev. Rex Horne will be officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
